Destination Andhra Pradesh: Govt. of AP interacts with 100+ US companies
Government of Andhra Pradesh as part of its outreach efforts to attract global companies to the state has organized an interactive webinar “Destination - Andhra Pradesh” in collaboration with Indian Mission in Washington DC and USIBC.
As companies explore to diversify supply chains and capitalize on unprecedented growth possibilities in the aftermath of the global pandemic, the virtual session has helped US companies gain an insight into the investment opportunities, cost of doing business in the state and efforts by the state government to facilitate business continuity for industries in the state.
Dr. Manoj Mohapatra, IFS, Minister for Commerce, Indian Embassy, Washington DC has emphasised on the rare window of opportunity for India into prominent sectors as global supply chains realign. He has highlighted Government of India’s medical diplomacy in clearing Hydroxychloroquine supplies from India to the US. While this has created a necessary momentum in the interest of India, it was emphasized that country needs to capitalize on this limited window of opportunity to position itself as the preferred destination for future industrial growth and investments.
Mr. M Goutham Reddy, Minister for Investments, Industries, Commerce, Information Technology and Skill Development & Training delivered his opening remarks emphasising the special nature of US India relationship. The minister has invited the US companies to take part in the Indian growth story and assured encumbrance free and transparent governance for a seamless business experience. The minister has interacted with C-suite executives of US-based companies and explained the Andhra Pradesh Advantage in the hour-long session.
Mr. R. KarikalValaven, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to the Government has emphasized on the transparent governance and decisive leadership along with the geographic advantages and industrial infrastructure, the tenets which make Andhra Pradesh an attractive destination in India.
Mr. Srikanth N, IAS, Secretary Energy has elaborated on the business opportunities in the Energy and Power sector. He invited companies to explore business opportunities in the recently announced ‘10GW Solar Power Plants Scheme’ towards energy generation, substation modernization and grid up-gradation.
Mr. JVN Subramanyam, IAS, CEO, APEDB and Director, Industries has presented an overview of leading progress of the state in handling the pandemic, focused opportunities across sectors of interest in the state and continuing efforts through the state's flagship AP Medtech Zone and Pharma industries to improve the state's and nation's healthcare. Further, the companies have proposed to assess the industrial land banks in the state and evaluate avenues of collaborations in various investible projects pertaining to trunk industrial infrastructure, housing, greenfield port development, skill development, desalination plant, etc.
