Western Australia and Andhra Pradesh government entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sister State relations.
Western Australia Deputy Premier Roger Cook along with team met Hon'ble Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at camp office in Vijayawada and had a detailed discussion on the mutual cooperation in various sectors.
Western Australia would assist the Andhra Pradesh government in geological mapping of mines in the State. Also, Western Australia will invest ₹3,000 crore in the mining sector in Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Cook said that his government would work with the Andhra Pradesh government in the fields of mines, transport, technology, medical and education.
Hon'ble Chief Minister said that the Sunrise State Andhra Pradesh was marching ahead of others effectively using technology. Andhra Pradesh has its own advantages. Vast coast line, abundant natural resources and best human resources were a few to mention.
The Chief Minister said that there would be staff exchange programme between the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) and Western Australia in Tourism, science and innovation. An MoU would be entered between NG Ranga Agricultural university and the University of Western Australia for research and teching collaboration in fields of dryland agriculture.
Western Australia's economy is largely driven by extraction and processing of a diverse range of mineral and petroleum commodities. The Economy is Linked to natural resources, providing a comparative advantage in resource extraction and processing. Western Australia contributes an estimated 58% of Australia's mineral and energy exports.
