By June 2018, APEDB facilitate a workshop to bring together all relevant stakeholders to deliberate, discuss and develop a blue print/business plan for the establishment of a Gaming for Learning Hub. This blueprint/business plan will spell out in detail the financial, organizational, human, and logistic resources required for the Games for Learning Hub.
The partnership is in line with the Vision 2029 framework of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh, which consists of 6 transformational areas, namely, human development, inclusive growth, globally competitive economy, knowledge-based economy, sustainability, and governance. The Chief Minister strongly believes that if technological advancements and modernized methodologies of education come to the state the youth will be empowered to reach their full potential.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh’s emphasis on education in achieving the Vision 2029 target is amplified with this collaboration with UNESCO’s category 1 institute in the Asia Pacific Region that has a specific mandate of developing education for the 21st Century focussing on Empathy, Mindfulness and Critical Inquiry. MGIEP will bring to the partnership its expertise on digital pedagogies that foster peace and sustainable development.
“Using games for learning maybe a relatively new concept but it there is much scientific evidence that by using games one can improve the learning process of the students and are also an effective method of assessment as students can learn at their own pace,” said Dr. Anantha Duraiappah, Director UNESCO MGIEP at the signing of the MoU. He further added, “The signing of this MoU exemplifies the Andhra Pradesh CM’s commitment to equip the future generation with the skills for the 21st century skills and will provide a space for partnerships between universities, private sector public sector, educators, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders. It will put Andhra Pradesh on the global map as the go-to place for innovative digital pedagogies.”
