Mr. Jeong Doek-Min leads 20 member
delegation to Andhra Pradesh
Hony. Consul General of India in South Korea Mr. Jeong Doek-Min visited Andhra Pradesh and called on N Chandrababu Naidu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh today.
Mr. Jeong Doek-Min, also the Special Envoy to Andhra Pradesh to Busan led a 20 member delegation to Andhra Pradesh. The member companies sought to explore manufacturing opportunities in automobiles, food processing, shipbuilding, industrial engineering and construction.
Mr. Jeong Doek-Min opened the India Cultural Centre and Make in India Centre in Busan. The Make in India centre in Busan, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi seeks to bring companies from Busan to manufacture in India.
Mr. Naidu visited the Make in India centre in Busan and advocated for a Make in Andhra center owing to sustained investments from South Korea. An MoU was signed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to set up a Korean Industrial City in the state.
Busan is South Korea’s second most-populous city after Seoul, with a population of over 3.5 million inhabitants. It is the economic, cultural and educational center of south-eastern Korea.
Its port is Korea’s busiest and 9th busiest in the world. The surrounding "Southeast Economic Zone" is South Korea's largest industrial area.
Busan is a maritime logistics hub in Northeast Asia with its world-class Mega ports, and a gateway to the Eurasian continent.
The delegation from Busan would wish to establish an ‘industrial city’ and participate in manufacturing opportunities the state has to offer, especially in automobiles, engineering, shipbuilding and food processing.
Mr. Jeong Doek-Min requested the Chief Minister for stronger economic, trade and cultural ties between Busan and Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that Andhra Pradesh would be as industrialized as Busan and called for elevating the status of partnership with Busan.
The delegation also has a round table meeting with Secretaries of various departments and expressed keen interest to work with relevant ministries.
Mr. Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board commented that “South Korea is an integral partner in the growth story of Andhra Pradesh and such high profile delegations are a testimony to Andhra Pradesh’s development progress and entrepreneurial ethos”
