Joint statement between the ministry of economy, trade and industry of Japan and the government of Andhra Pradesh, India for development of new capital city and industrial cooperation.
A high level delegation led by His Excellency Yosuke Takagi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan visited Andhra Pradesh to participate in the Andhra Pradesh – Japan Public Private Joint Conference 2017 organized by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board(APEDB) and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
The Joint Statement was signed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and Hon’ble Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Yosuke Takagi in Vijayawada.
This Joint Statement was made under the aegis of the ‘Andhra Pradesh Japan - Public Private Joint Conference’ held in Vijayawada.
This Joint Statement was also made to confirm the progress of actions under the previous Memorandum of Cooperation’s signed between two sides on 28th November 2014 and on 22nd October 2015.
Through this Joint Statement, Japan and Andhra Pradesh agree to collaborate on the following areas
- Development of the New State Capital Region
- Industrial Clusters and Logistical Network
- Cooperation on Human Resource Development
- Industrial Cooperation on Smart Energy Sector
Japan recognizes the potential of Andhra Pradesh and its efforts in rapidly developing a new state capital. Japan also complements the state for taking measures in establishing industrial clusters and making the state a promising investment destination for Japanese companies.
Japan and Andhra Pradesh agree to cooperate in promoting further investment by Japanese companies in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Development of New State Capital Region
Andhra Pradesh and Japan welcome concrete progress in five areas of smart infrastructure namely data center and cloud computing platforms, disaster prevention systems by radar, traffic decongestion system, water supply systems and sewage treatment systems.
Japan and Andhra Pradesh share the intention to start the 'Pre-Feasibility Study regarding ICT architectural master plan of the nine cities of Amaravati'.
Andhra Pradesh and Japan welcome steady progress on “Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Study for AP Capital Region” by JICA.
Andhra Pradesh and Japan welcome the expression of support by MLIT for production of the master plans on development of the Sports City Zone and the Electronic City in Amaravati depending on appropriate request from GOAP.

Industrial Cooperation on Smart Energy Sector
Japan and Andhra Pradesh welcome to identify the possibilities of collaboration activities based on Japanese advanced technology in smart community, renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy storage
Andhra Pradesh will lead delegations to promote investments and provide a steady investment climate for Japanese investors establishing their presence in the state.
