A High-level delegation from the Chelyabinsk region, Russian Federation, visits the state of Andhra Pradesh on a two day state tour
H. E. Boris Dubrovsky, Governor of Chelyabinsk Region led a 30-member delegation from the Chelyabinsk region to the state of Andhra Pradesh. The delegation included high-level dignitaries such as H. E. Alexey Kozlov, Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Chelyabinsk Region, H.E. Sergey Sushkov, Minister of Agriculture, Chelyavinsk Region and H. E. Ruslan Gattarov, Deputy Governor, Chelyavinsk Region.
The other members of the delegation were Mr.Anton Bakhayev, Deputy Minister for economic development of the Chelyabinsk region, Mr. Fiodor Degtiarev, President of the South-Urals Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Anatoliy Lobko, Director of the Agency for investment development, Ms.Olga Aleynikova, Director of the Agency of international cooperation development.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu met H. E. Boris Dubrovskiy, Governor of Chelyabinsk Region during his visit to INNOPROM in 2016. With an endeavor to strengthen the partnerships between Russia and Andhra Pradesh, the Hon’ble Chief Minister invited the Governor to visit the state of Andhra Pradesh and explore mutual areas of cooperation. In this backdrop, a conference was organized by Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) in Visakhapatnam to explore the existing opportunities for cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Chelyabinsk Region.
The conference began with a presentation by Mr. J. Krishna Kishore, CEO, APEDB, on the various investment opportunities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Through his presentation, Mr. J. Krishna Kishore provided insights on the advantages of investing in the state of Andhra Pradesh, including conducive business environment, tailor-made incentives to investors, strong infrastructure and an efficient and dynamic administration under the leadership of the state, which make Andhra Pradesh an ideal investment destination. The presentation also examined the existing projects that are being developed in the state in collaboration with Russian partners.
H.E. Dubrovsky, Governor of Chelyabinsk region in his presentation highlighted that the Republic of India and the Russia Federation were natural partners. The strong cooperation between the two regions was reflected in the trade and commerce relations, defense collaborations, and scientific and technological partnerships, amongst others. He further stated that the state of Andhra Pradesh was rapidly becoming a global destination and efforts would be made by the Chelyabinsk region to identify new areas and invest in Andhra Pradesh to strengthen the existing relations between the two regions. Potential areas of collaboration that were proposed by him included heavy industry, agriculture, infrastructure, technology and industrial corridors in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The conference was presided over by Shri Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh, who in his keynote address, the Hon’ble Minister urged the representatives of the Chelyabinsk Region to forge partnerships, alliances and explore new participatory areas of cooperation with the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Following the conference, the Hon’ble Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, accompanied by the other dignitaries visited the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The representatives from the state of Andhra Pradesh accompanied the members of the Russian delegation through a details tour of the Steel Plant, which included discussions on the technology that was being used in the industry.
