His Excellency Liu Jie, Vice Governor, Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, met Hon’ble Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
The purpose of this visit was to elevate the status of partnership between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Provincial People’s Government of Sichuan, China.
His Excellency Liu Jie led a 17-member delegation to Andhra Pradesh to extend cooperation in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, transportation, sustainable infrastructure, construction and tourism.
Both the leaders agreed upon taking speedy measures for promoting cooperation in different sectors while Vice Governor expressed that a close cooperation will be extended to Andhra Pradesh as the state is increasingly becoming an investment link in various provinces in China.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister added that since his visit to Sichuan Province in 2015 there has been a steady interest in Andhra Pradesh especially when the Chief Minister met His Excellency Governor Wei Hong and suggested closer ties between Andhra Pradesh and Sichuan Province.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that there was strong cultural tie been China and Andhra Pradesh. Nagarjuna, born in Andhra Pradesh was one of the six great commentators on Buddha’s teachings as is regarded as the founder of Mahayana Buddhism.
The Vice Governor added that “Andhra Pradesh was like a close brother, closer ties and frequent communication could realize the potentialities that both states could offer”.
The Vice Governor also participated in the Andhra Pradesh - Sichuan Provincial Investment & Cooperation Exchange Conference 2017.
This Chief Guest of the Conference was Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that “Andhra Pradesh has been fostering closer ties with China and we hope this conference strengthens the relationship between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Provincial Government of Sichuan”
The Hon’ble Finance Minister added that “Andhra Pradesh and Sichuan share similar synergies and linkages and are capable of transforming each other’s economies. The transformational journey of Sichuan through rapid economic development has been exemplary and Andhra Pradesh is also now on the journey of high growth and development.”
Mr. J. Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board said that closer ties with Sichuan Provincial Government is significant as it reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s role as a key player in the global economic fora and realigns Andhra Pradesh’s resolve to improve cooperation among Asian nations as the state embarks on a look-east policy.
Expression of Interest between Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group and Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board
An Expression of Interest was signed for cooperation in the areas of energy development between Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group and the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board.
Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group, is a state capital investment company, which was set up in 2011 with approval of the Sichuan Provincial Government. As of 2016, Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group controls 210 subsidiary companies in four sectors including energy, chemicals and new materials.
Sichuan Energy Industry Investment Group will invest USD 1 billion in Andhra Pradesh in the areas of power, grid construction, wind and distributed energy development.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. J. Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board added that “Although Andhra Pradesh is a power surplus state, investing in energy security will give Andhra Pradesh a lead as the state looks to invest for the future.”
