The French delegation led by Mr. Geoffroy Roux De Bezieux, Chairman, MEDEF, the French business federation, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to explore opportunities for investments and partnerships between Andhra Pradesh and France. The visiting delegation comprised of representatives of businesses engaged in construction materials, food and dairy products processing, energy, engineering, and auto components; and officials of MEDEF and AFD.
The Hon'ble Chief Minister welcomed investments and turnkey solutions across the value chain in dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables to ensure better income for farmers. He also invited proposals for the development of logistics infrastructure such as ports, airports; modernization of energy infrastructure; sewage and water treatment.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister promised transparent and corruption-free governance and assured the investors of enabling infrastructure of land, water, and electricity. Specific teams will be formed to take forward the French investment proposals.
Earlier, the delegation participated in a Roundtable discussion with key Ministers and officials of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and business owners in the State, 25 Sept 2019, Vijayawada
The Hon’ble Ministers of Finance, Energy, Agriculture; key officials of the Government including the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, officials from Departments of Energy, Transport, RTGS, Dairy Development Co-operative Federation, Amaravati Metro Rail Corp., and AP Economic Development Board have attended a Ministerial & Business Roundtable with the French MEDEF delegation led by Mr. Guy Sidos, Chairman & CEO, Vicat. The discussion was facilitated by the AP Economic Development Board.
Investment and collaboration opportunities in the power sector (smart grid), urban development (smart cities), food processing, cold chain for agriculture, horticulture, and dairy produce, and skilling were discussed.
Mr. Sidos, Chairman and CEO, Vicat said that “the French companies are very interested in partnering with Andhra Pradesh especially in cold chains, engineering for new ports and airports, developing the partnership in green energy and smart cities. France will play an important role in Andhra Pradesh's growth story”.
The Hon’ble Finance Minister of Andhra Pradesh said “Andhra Pradesh has infrastructural synergies, an excellent local population that is adaptive, friendly and works towards the common good of Andhra Pradesh”.
Dr. P V Ramesh, Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister said “The delegation has shown interest in making Andhra Pradesh a preferred partner with the focus on infrastructure, automobiles, food processing, and various other potential areas of collaboration. We plan to have a joint working group comprising the representatives from MEDEF, APEDB, and CII. We will work closely to strengthen the relations and take the way forward to fruitful economic opportunities in the state.”
