GoAP participated in the Defence Expo 2020 held at Lucknow.
Shri. Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Commerce, & IT, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh led a delegation consisting of Dr. Rajat Bhargava, Spl. Chief Secretary to Government & CIP, Industries & Commerce; Shri. Subramanyam Javvadi, Director Industries & Commerce, Export Promotion, CEO APEDB; and the team from APEDB at the Defence Expo 2020 in Lucknow.
The delegation from AP participated in an Indo-US Defence Seminar, a CEO Roundtable, and several bilateral meetings with major global Defence and Aerospace companies.
The engagements at the Expo opened with the Hon'ble Minister’s special address at the India-US Defence Seminar organized by the US India Business Council (USIBC). The Minister has shared the dais with Shri. Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Defence Minister and Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon'ble Minister of State for Defence. The key theme of the Minister Goutham Reddy’s address is a growing defence partnership between India and the US, which was evidenced by “Tiger Triumph” a joint military exercise organized in Visakhapatnam during last November. The Minister emphasized the ambitions of the youth of India and also highlighted opportunities for defence and aerospace companies in Andhra Pradesh.
CEO Round Table Conference
The Andhra Pradesh delegation led by Shri. Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Commerce, & IT, Govt. of AP participated in the CEO Roundtable at the Defence Expo 2020 in Lucknow. The Roundtable was attended by major Aerospace and Defence players, such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Airbus, and Jacobs.
The AP delegation briefed the participants about investment opportunities in the State and the efforts being undertaken by the AP Government in upskilling the local talent. The delegation also gathered inputs from the industry players on aligning the State's policy and ecosystem to the global Aerospace and Defence industry standards.
Meeting with President, Rolls Royce
The Andhra Pradesh delegation led by Shri. Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Commerce & IT; Skill Development & Training met Mr. Kishore Jayaraman, President, Rolls Royce, India & South Asia at Defence Expo 2020.
The Hon’ble Minister briefed Mr. Kishore about the government’s focus on imparting new-age skills to the youth of the State. The Minister elaborated on the existing avenues for skill development in partnership with Dassault and Siemens in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Kishore commended the Government’s efforts on skill development and expressed his interest to collaborate with the State on this front. In this context, he briefed the Minister about Rolls Royce's upcoming project - "Unnati", which proposes to impart skills to 100 local women at Visakhapatnam and Mumbai.
Meeting with CMD, Bharat Forge
On the invitation of Mr. Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge, the AP delegation led by Shri. Mekapati Goutham Reddy, the Hon’ble Minister for Industries, has paid a visit to the Kalyani Group pavilion at Defence Expo 2020. Bharat Forge has established an automotive parts unit in Nellore with an investment of about INR 1,200 crores.
The Minister had a brief discussion on harnessing the power of the Automobile ecosystem through new-age skilling initiatives. Mr. Kalyani has expressed complete confidence and support to the vision of the Hon’ble Minister.
Mr. Amit Kalyani, Deputy MD, Bharat Forge, has emphasized the company’s keen interest in Andhra Pradesh and has shared the company’s ambitious plans for the State, which cut across defence, transportation, and mobility.
