The Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu delivered the keynote speech in the "Building a prosperous and inclusive future" session at the BNP Paribas Sustainable Future Forum 2018 conference held in Singapore today via video conference from Amaravati. The Hon'ble Chief Minister spoke about sustainable development initiatives being undertaken in Andhra Pradesh, specifically in the development of Amaravati capital city and agricultural practices
This was the third edition of the Sustainable Future Forum with the theme “Finance for a better tomorrow”. The Hon'ble Chief Minister addressed the Plenary Session of the event which saw the participation of over 800 top-level leaders, representing over 400 companies ranging from investment bankers, social impact fund, sustainable funding agencies, and multilateral agencies. The delegates present at the session were truly global representing over 24 countries.
The Hon'ble Chief Minister’s address was on Building a City Fit for Our Future: Showcasing Amaravati, The New Capital of Andhra Pradesh. The address highlighted the various sustainable initiatives being undertaken to build the People’s Capital Amaravati and sustainable investment opportunities in building the People’s Capital. Post the address by the Hon'ble Chief Minister, a panel discussion on Andhra Pradesh and the various sustainable initiatives undertaken by the state was discussed.
The panelist on the session also included Mr. Joris Dierckx, Country Head of BNP Paribas for India and CEO of BNP Paribas SA; Mr. Pavan Sukhdev, Founder-CEO GIST Advisory and United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador; and Mr. Satya S. Tripathi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the New York Office of the United Nation Environment Programme. The discussion covered the Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) initiatives, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by Andhra Pradesh, interlinking of rivers and the investment climate in Andhra Pradesh.
The panel members especially highlighted the efforts of the Hon'ble Chief Minister in implementing ZBNF in the state and how it is the largest such initiative in the world that would ensure food security, improve the health of the people while addressing climate change.
Mr. Tripathi also acknowledged the Hon'ble Chief Minister for his leadership, wherein he informed the delegates that among the leaders he met in over 180 countries as a senior official of the United Nations, he found Mr. Naidu as "among the most inspiring and visionary leaders in the world today, given his leadership and ability to deliver”.
